About Us

eShop

BGL has now expanded its operations to include online sales

BGL has established an eShop to automate sales and other services. This initiative aims to enhance convenience for users and improve operational efficiency for the organization. The organization is now able to utilize website technology to sell products (books) to customers online.

To access the eShop,  log on to the web platform, set up a profile, and then request the necessary services or products. We recognize that such a platform can be more efficient and user-friendly than traditional methods of connecting people with products and services, such as requiring in-person visits, phone calls, or filing paperwork via email, thank you.

The Bureau of Ghana Languages

BGL promotes the preservation of Ghanaian languages and culture

The Bureau of Ghana Languages (BGL) was established by the Vernacular Literature Board Ordinance No. 27 of 1951 (CAP 119). With the passing of the 1958 Dissolution Act of the Vernacular Literature Board, the Bureau was converted to a Department under the Ministry of Information. It was later transferred to the Ministry of Education in 1963.

The Bureau of Ghana Languages formerly the Vernacular Literature Bureau has since the enactment of the National Commission on Culture Act, 1990 (PNDC Law 238) been a department under the National Commission on Culture. Now the Bureau of Ghana Languages is a department under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture by dint of the Executive Instrument that created the Ministry in 2017. The Bureau of Ghana Languages exists to promote the preservation of Ghanaian Languages and Culture through the publication, certification, and usage of world-class systems, technology, and collaborations with local and international partners.
