The Asante- Twi language has twenty two alphabets unlike the English language alphabet which numbers twenty-six .The alphabets are as follows:
a, b, d, e, 1, f, g, h, I ,k, l, m, n, o, ɛ, p, r, s, t, u, w,y Out of the twenty-two alphabets, seven namely a, e, I, o, u, ɔ,ɛ are classified as vowels whilst the remaining fifteen namely b, d, f, g, h, k, l, m, n, p ,r, s, t, w, y are consonants.
It is interesting to note that apart from the twenty two single alphabets above, the Asante Twi language boasts of ten diagraphs which are a combination of two alphabets forming one sound.
They are as :follows: dw, gy, tw, ky, kw, ny, nw, hy, ng, hw.
From the above it can be said that the difference between the two languages (English and Asante Twi) in terms of the alphabets is that the Asante- Twi language does not embody the following alphabets which can be found in the English language: c, j, q, v, x, z .
On the other hand the English Language Alphabet is exclusive of the alphabet ɔ and ɛ which can be found in the Asante Twi Language..
